Team Hempstead Hounds
My name is Sarah, I am a City and Guilds qualified dog groomer. I set up Hempstead Hounds in 2012 when I qualified. I have groomed most breeds from Airedales and Newfoundlands to Schnauzers and shih tzus. I have experience across the cockapoo, labradoodle, cavachon and yorkipoo cross breeds too. I am currently studying for level 2 canine behaviour and welfare and have attende numerous canine body language and understanding dog seminars and workshops with the aim of establishing a puppy and dog training school soon. Watch this space! I am a real animal lover and currently own an Irish Cob named Billy, a cypriot rescue dog called Selene, a Dutch Blue Dwarf Rabbit named Pasha, two Guinea pigs called Dangermouse and Penfold, two rescue cats called Lloyd and Lord Garmadon and a cheeky lawyer called David. After a ten year career in the optical industry I followed my passion to train as a dog groomer and set up a salon from my home. Over the five years and with only one member of staff (Charlotte) we gained a loyal client base, grooming a great variety of breeds. As of September 2017 we moved into a purpose built salon, adding lots of space, the latest equipment and 3 extra members of staff.
This is Emelia. Emelia has a Level 2 City & Guilds Certificate and a pending City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming. Emelia has owned all sorts of dog breeds; Dalmatians, Shar Pei’s, a Toy Poodle cross, a Bouvier Des Flandres and many more! Emelia previously worked at a 24hr Veterinary Hospital and a Dog Groomers in Australia.
Melissa joined the team summer 2017 having previously worked in a vets for five years. Melissa is a kennel club accredited judge for breeds within the gun dog group. She shows her five weimeraners across the UK and Europe regularly with great success. She breeds KC registered litters of puppies occasionally too. She used to show jump and keeps her beloved Delta in semi-retirement now.
Charlotte started working with me over three years ago when it was just the two of us from my home based salon. She gained her city and guilds in 2014 and has much experience across all breeds. She grew up with border collies and they are her favourite breed but she is also a cat lover and has two tortoiseshell cats (penny and fleur) as pets now.
Sara joined us in December 2018 and is studying at Writtle College for her level 2 qualification. She has many years’ experience with dogs through her time working in a veterinary surgery and running her own pet sitting business.
